Welcome

Firstly, thank you for visiting my website.

As a therapist I bring a non-judgmental experience that allows for self-discovery through awareness and change. This provides my clients with a toolbox that they can use throughout their life.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss having therapy with me, please don't hesitate to contact me.

About Me

Emma Parr

I worked in The City and West End of London, in the financial sector and design industry, before I began to realise I wanted more fulfilment from life. To understand why we are as we are and what makes each of us ‘tick’.

Psychotherapy was the answer, to acknowledge our differences and celebrate them. For me being with a client as they explore their internal world is both an honour and a privilege.

I qualified at the Psychosynthesis Trust (PT). The course was accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and validated by the University of East London. I am a registered member of the BACP and have a Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) certificate.

I have assisted at PT for the last 7 years on a number of courses, and value my time with the students immensely.

I live in South West London with my husband and children.

What is Psychotherapy?

What prompts us to come to therapy is incredibly varied and regardless of the reason always valid. There may be a feeling of something that is absent for us, but we can't quite name what it is.

Therapy provides the opportunity to seek further understanding of our internal world and through self-awareness make choices in how we move towards the future.

My Approach to Therapy
Roberto Assagiloi

Dr. Roberto Assagioli (1888 – 1974), the founder of Psychosynthesis, was initially a member of the Freud Society in Zurich in 1910. Assagioli developed his own movement to explore the possibility of integrating mind, body, emotion and spirit into one whole – a synthesis.

This approach enables us to work on our own light and joy, as well as our shadow in the present moment. Through different techniques Psychosynthesis provides a framework and a toolbox that we can carry with us through life; despite our present state we have the potential to be more than we are today.

New mum or expecting?

Becoming a mum is life changing.

And although we are told it is the most natural thing in the world, often it can overwhelm us with emotions - from joy to anger to loneliness and everything in between.

I am available to see  mums on their own or as a group.

SJ, London

When my first child was born I was able to talk to Emma about the delivery and my fluctuating feelings. Emma gave me invaluable advice and assurance on how to monitor my own post-natal mental health and I feel better equipped to cope in my next post-natal period.

GA, London

My youngest was born with health complications and spent a long time in hospital. I was riddled with guilt about the time I spent away from my daughter. During this time, Emma provided an empathetic ear and realistic tips on how to deal with specific situations: mitigating sibling jealousy, pressures of family life and taking time to heal. As a result, I feel better equipped to cope. It is a pleasure seeing Emma, she is a fantastic listener and her calm demeanour and no nonsense approach are very refreshing.

I have been seeing Emma for quite a while now.  I find our sessions incredibly helpful and insightful.  Emma is so perceptive and seems to always know how I am feeling and why.  I have learnt so much from our time together and I could not recommend her highly enough.

CH, London

I can’t thank Emma enough for her guidance and support through a very difficult period in my life, and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if it were not for her help.
